“There are 4 million dog lovers in Australia, with 49,000 in the Canberra region. $2.6 billion/annum is spent on dogs. A recent PawStop survey found 84% of dog lovers would take their dogs with them if they knew of businesses that were pet-friendly”

What Is PawStop?

PawStop is a community of pet-owners and businesses that love dogs. PawStop’s creators Jack, Rhon and Heidi Garside like to spend lots of time out and about with their family dogs Barney and Chloe. They have found, however, that it can be difficult to find places, like B&Bs and cafés for example, that are happy to include dogs at their premises.

Who needs PawStop?

Jack and Rhon are not alone either. According to the ‘National Survey of People and Pets’ there are over 4 million dog lovers in Australia. A recent survey by PawStop found that 84% of people would take their dogs along with them if they knew of businesses that were pet-friendly.

Having identified this need, Jack and Rhon decided to undertake a search to find those special businesses that loved pets and were happy to welcome people with their animals. (PawStop Members may recommend special businesses that can be shared with others.)

PawStop Businesses

The result of that search is PawStop – a directory of friendly places for you and your dog. Pet owners and business owners can register on our website to express an interest in PawStop, to receive our PawStop newsletter or to search our directory of PawStop businesses.

You can search our directory by location, by type of business or by tourist attractions or specific services for pets. All kinds of businesses are listing like cafés, motels and B&Bs, galleries, tourist attractions (like a mine in lightning ridge) and pet services like dog-washing.

What Else Does PawStop Offer?

PawStop is not just a directory of dog-friendly businesses. It’s also a community of like-minded people – people who love pets. On the PawStop website you can read articles about pet-related issues, share stories with other PawStop members and businesses and have your say about how to make the PawStop network even better.

You can also link to other pet organisations such as the RSPCA and government services for Pets.

In the coming months we will add some exciting features to the PawStop site including PawTours and the PawStop Shop where you will be able to buy accessories for your pets.

We’d love you to register as a member to enjoy the benefits of the PawStop community. We look forward to hearing from you very soon.
